Lucrezia (Respighi) & Gianni Schicchi (Puccini) – Double bill of one-act operas: the first a rarely performed tragedy inspired by Shakespeare’s poem The Rape of Lucrece (only staged once before in the U.S. in NYC, 1979), the second a witty comedy based on an incident mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy. Perfomances sung in Italian with English subtitles with piano accompaniment by Artistic Director Osvaldo de Leon.
