Orlando (Handel) – Set in a WWII military hospital, the pilot Orlando (mezzo Sasha Cooke) can’t tell reality from delusion; the trauma of war has turned his love for Angelica (soprano Heidi Stober) into madness, but with the help of friends he may overcome the effects of war. Rusalka (Dvořák) – Based on the same story that inspired The Little Mermaid, this heartbreaking tale of love and sacrifice looks beyond the storybook world of happily-ever-after to expose painful human truths. Starring soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen as the eponymous water nymph, mezzo Jamie Barton as the witch Ježibaba, tenor Brandon Jovanovich as The Prince, and bass Kristinn Sigmundsson as Vodnik the Water Goblin; Eun Sun Kim conducting.
