Former SF Opera General Director Lotfi Mansouri once referred to me (which I repeat here with much humility) an opera connoisseur. The term “opera glutton” might be more apt. I have kept a log of all the productions I’ve seen since age 13 (the number is 2675 as of today, 664 operas by 287 composers). Obviously I am now of an advanced age.
So to make a long story short, I have seen Marriage of Figaro 45 times and I must report that this Berlin Nozze has some of the finest Mozart-singing I have ever heard. Included in the cast, by the way, is Nadine Sierra (Adler 2011-2012) as Susanna.
