Metropolitan Opera Season, Part 2 – Instructor Diane Mauch leads this course on the final four operas of the MET’s 2018 season. She’ll use CDs and DVDs to make vivid her exploration of the historical, musical, and theatrical high points of the quartet. The course begins with Semiramide, followed by Cosi fan tutte, Luisa Miller, and Cendrillon. Whether you are a newcomer to opera or a veteran, here’s a chance to deepen your appreciation of the medium’s irresistible mix of music, drama, and visual splendor.  $48 for OLLI & Rossmoor Opera Club members / $66 for non-members

Come sing and dance, learn about libretto creation and composition, and discover the vibrant world of opera with fun and engaging Teaching Artists. Flagstadt and Melchior – Many consider Kirsten Flagstad and Lauritz Melchior to be the greatest Wagnerian duo ever. In his talk, Jeff McMillan, a member of the Society’s Board of Directors and Senior Communications Manager for SF Opera, will recount the careers of these two great singers and will play many examples of their incomparable artistry. Afternoon at the Opera, La Seconda Sequenza – Discover the lyrical beauty, drama, and flights of romance and fantasy that have delighted opera lovers since the end of the sixteenth century! Join Shari Deghi and mezzo-soprano Deborah Rosengaus as you prepare for the Met Live in HD broadcasts of Cosi fan tutte, Luisa Miller, and Cendrillon.  You’ll also explore a Russian masterpiece, a beloved German operetta, and get insight into the singer’s experience. Performing Arts Connection: Spring Break for Teens
Fill your spring break with music, poetry, dance, theater, and digital media storytelling! Discover and explore new art forms, hone current skills, and inspire fresh creativity with diverse teen communities from all over the Bay Area. Teens will work with local artists and specialists from SF Opera, SF Ballet, and American Conservatory Theatre in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco to craft original works and produce a showcase for their families and the community.
